World Communion Sunday
Our morning started out with worship for World Communion Sunday and the Glasgow Cathedral Church which is part of the church of Scotland which is Presbyterian. Our group was greeted by an usher in morning coat tails and white bow tie. He led us in and they had reserved the first 4 pews for us!
The pastors greeted us in worship and spoke about our journey at least three times during the service. You can watch the service at this link and you will see me in the front row. The service today at Glasgow Cathedral. https://www.youtube.com/live/zUVgA94gUg0?is=HCOthWzU46oh3g15
After the service, we had a tour of St. Mungo's tomb below the church. There are a number of miracles associated with St. Mungo and the beautiful tapestry in the tomb has symbols representing them. We then had High Tea at the Willow Tea Rooms, designed by Charles Rennie McKintosh, a contemporary of FrabknLloyd Wright. After tea, we then went to the Kelvingrove Museum to see the painting of Christ of St. John of the Cross by Salvador Dali. We had more time to explore more of the museum and because it was Sunday, we were in time for the organ recital that happens at 3 pm every Sunday.
We then had the evening free to eat where we wanted. I took a short walk to see two of the many murals painted on the sides of buildings in Glasgow. I found the contemporarized version of St. Mungo and St. Enoch, Mungo's mother.
From Glasgow we will be traveling past Loch Lomond and on to the Highlands.
