Dunkeld
Today began with a lovely morning walk to church in Dunkeld, from our hotel along the Tay River. The Perthshire area is known as Big Tree Country and the walks along the river have some amazing specimen!
The walk is less than 30 minutes at a leisurely pace and brings us up behind the old cathedral and current Presbyterian Church. We explored a bit before entering the church for our Sunday worship. Rev. Fraser Penny welcomed us to their worshiping community which also embraces an adult community with special needs nearby. Our group has been so blessed by the churches who openly support special needs and welcome their giftedness.
Following the service, Rev. Penny gave us a tour of the church, the old monastery chapter house and museum and gave us a bit of a history. Then we had the day to explore, shop and eat! We chose The Clootie Dumpling which had wonderful teas, a great potatoes and cheese tart and homemade warm clootie dumpling with cream!
Then off to the Hermitage and Ossian's cave for a fall walk among the tall trees. It was busy as fall holiday has started this week for school children and the leaves are beginning to change a bit.
One last full day tomorrow!
