Crossings

Day 13 was a day of crossings...crossing the Sound of Iona to the Isle of Mull (10 minutes by ferry) and then crossing Mull by coach (75 minutes by coach on one plane roads), crossing from Mull to Oban by ferry ( 50 minutes) and then crossing Scotland from west coast to the Highlands ( 3 hours) to arrive at our next and final place to stay for 3 nights in Dunkeld.  I went to the gathering lounge early in the morning to watch the sun rise and to photograph the changing light and sky.

With the high winds and chopping seas, our ferry departure from Iona was delayed by 2 hours.  It is always nice to have a few more hours on Iona, even if just to sit and watch the water.

After finally crossing , we took the bus for the 75 minute ride to Craignure and the next ferry.  We had some glimpses of red deer and saw the wind blow one of the tall waterfalls sideways on the high  mountain of Mull.  The one lane road is always an adventure.

The ferry back to Oban was smooth and we arrived for a late lunch as we waited for our luggage trailer to make the next ferry over to load our bus and be on our way to Dunkeld for the final leg of our journey.

We arrived to a welcome of a dram of whisky or a glass of sherry and a late dinner.  The Dunkeld House Hotel is a beautiful place to stay for the close of our journey.
