Kilmartin Glen
Today ww traveled south from Oban to Kilmartin Glen. This valley has been home to ancient peoples, giant deer and kings of pre -Scotland. We went to one of the oldest fort sites in Scotland called Dunnad. After a little bit of a rock scrambling hike, we were treated to a breathtaking 350 degree view. At the top, there is a carved footprint, like this one we saw at Dunino den. This would have been where kings of Dal Riata would have been crowned.
We all put our foot in the footprint and later renewed our baptism in the small pool on the rock.
We then had a fascinating tour of the Kilmartin Museum with information about the standing stones, burial Cairns and early peoples throughout the Glen.
We then took a tour of Arduaine gardens along the coast. We finished off our day with a delicious fresh catch seafood meal in Oban.
